Bellway is supporting local communities across East Sussex by contributing about £5.9 million towards infrastructure.

Bellway is currently building three developments in the area: 220 homes at Woodbury Manor in Hailsham; 210 homes at Porters Grove in St Leonards-on-Sea; and 70 homes at Clavering Park in Bexhill.

These three projects will include a total of 150 affordable homes for local people and each is also providing new public open space for new residents and the wider community to enjoy.

Mark Harrop, Sales Director for Bellway, said: “At Bellway we are proud of our connections to local communities and our investment in East Sussex is improving local infrastructure as well as providing affordable homes and open space for local people.

“The payments we are making are improving facilities across the area, and include investment in roads, public transport and libraries.

“Meanwhile, the public open spaces we are delivering will provide opportunities for play, recreation and socialising, as well as creating new habitats for wildlife. It is all part of our long-term commitment to improve the places where we build homes.”

At Woodbury Manor, off Mill Road, Hailsham, Bellway is providing 77 affordable homes and seven acres of public open space, including an exercise trail and play areas with a range of equipment for all ages.

The housebuilder is also paying £3.1 million via the Community Infrastructure Levy, plus £1 million through the planning agreement for additional upgrades to infrastructure, including bus service improvements, the extension of a 30mph zone near the development and parking management measures on Mill Road.

The homes at Clavering Park, off Clavering Walk, Bexhill, include 21 affordable properties for local people, while there’s a large area of public open space to the north of the site which will feature a play area, new tree planting, footpaths and connectivity to existing public footpaths.

Bellway is also paying £1,326,526 through the Community Infrastructure Levy, plus £71,175 towards bus services through the planning agreement for the development.

A new multi-use games area is being built within the public open space at Porters Grove, off Darwell Close, St Leonards-on-Sea, comprising a fenced-in all-weather floodlit pitch with hoops and goals for a range of sports.

There will be 52 affordable homes at the development, while Bellway has also paid £280,674 to improve roads in the area, £62,006 for libraries and £5,658 for public rights of way under the planning agreement.
