Creating communities people will love to live in

People feel at home when they’re in the right place. Creating communities means we’re developing attractive neighbourhoods where people feel comfortable and connected, both with each other and the local area they live in. It also means we’re responsible for taking care of nature there and making a positive impact with charitable support for causes that people care about.

What creating communities looks like

Place making and community engagement

Not just a collection of homes, but a place to live. Neighbourhoods where families grow, friendships form, and exciting things happen. Attractive, resilient and connected communities in sought-after locations across Britain.

Even before the first brick is laid, we’re engaging with the local community to find out what people want from our homes, and what the area needs, so we can leave things better than we found them.

Charitable support

From local organisations and community causes to national charities, we fundraise all year round – because our success only really matters when it’s shared.

This includes business-wide activities for our charity partners, Cancer Research UK and Variety, the Children’s Charity, as well as local fundraising or donations within our communities. We also help our people to smash their targets by matching their personal fundraising efforts.

Nature

We recognise the impact that housebuilding can have on the environment and have strict processes and rigorous sustainability targets in place to minimise it.

These include drastically reducing our emissions, building low-carbon homes, and working with suppliers who are as committed to sustainable business practices are we are.

Our progress so far

  • Thanks to all of our people, we smashed the £5million fundraising target for Cancer Research UK by the end of 2025.
  • We developed our Placemaking Policy, helping to shape our developments for the long-term benefit of residents and the wider community.
  • We achieved an average Biodiversity Net Gain of 12.3% for our applicable sites in FY25.
