Bellway has paid more than £5 million in financial contributions to local services and infrastructure as part of its Parsonage Place development in Maidstone.Bellway has paid more than £5 million in financial contributions to local services and infrastructure as part of its Parsonage Place development in Maidstone.
Work started at the development, off Church Road in Otham, in 2022, and to date 310 of the 421 homes planned have been built. This includes all 126 affordable homes for low-cost rent and shared ownership which have been completed and handed over to local housing associations.
The housebuilder has now made all the payments agreed as part of the planning permission for the project. £2.76 million has been paid via the Community Infrastructure Levy, while the remainder of the money has been provided through the Section 106 agreement.
This has seen more than £1.45 million paid for primary schools, more than £123,000 for cycle route upgrades and more than £745,000 for improvements at Junction 7 of the M20, which is around three miles away from Parsonage Place.
Mark Harrop, Sales Director for Bellway Kent, said: “We have made a considerable investment in Maidstone as part of our Parsonage Place development, providing more than £5 million in funding to support infrastructure improvements in the local area.
“In addition to our financial contributions, we have also made an important contribution towards meeting the area’s housing needs, including prioritising the completion of the first affordable homes at an early stage of construction.
“We see the new homes at Parsonage Place as very much being part of the local community here. We have forged strong links with existing residents through a community art project, as well as delivering road and footpath improvements and a new car park for St Nicholas Church.
“Parsonage Place has become a well-established and attractive neighbourhood which fits in well with its surroundings. We’re now three-quarters of the way through the build process and look forward to completing the final homes here.”
There’s currently a choice of one and two-bedroom apartments and two, three and four-bedroom houses available to reserve at Parsonage Place, with prices starting from £199,995.
