AFC Fradley U8 teams net sponsorship deal with Bellway

Bellway has signed a two-year sponsorship deal with two of AFC Fradley’s under-eights football teams as part of its continued support for the local community in Fradley.

The housebuilder, which has been building new homes at Sheasby Park in the village for the past nine years, has paid £750 to support the U8 Arrows and U8 Junos teams.

The money has been used to buy shirts, shorts, socks and rain jackets for both teams, as well as training equipment such as balls, cones and a tactic board.

Hollie Rodgers, sales advisor at Sheasby Park, went to meet the teams’ coaches James Wilkinson and David Hyde and see the players train last month. She was presented with a framed team shirt to be displayed in the sales office at the development.

AFC Fradley was set up three years ago and was the Staffordshire FA Club of the Year in 2024. The club has more than 500 players and runs 46 teams from the ages of under-sixes to veterans, with sides for boys and girls, children with special educational needs, and men and women.

James Wilkinson said: “We are extremely grateful to Bellway for its generous donation which will see the company sponsor the under-eights this and next season when they will be the under-nines.

“There are a lot of children at the club who have moved to the village and live at Sheasby Park. It feels good that Bellway wants to be involved in the local community and has given us this contribution.

“The players are delighted with their new kits and the rain jackets will keep them dry when we are training though the wet and cold winter months. There is no doubt that the players look a lot more professional with new kit and I think it does put an extra spring in their step when they get out onto the pitch.”

Rachel Marner, Sales Manager at Bellway West Midlands, said: “AFC Fradley is a great success story and has really tapped into a strong feeling of community within the area. It has attracted hundreds of players of all ages who want to get out there and express themselves on the football pitch.

“There is real sense of local pride emanating from players, coaches and members of the club and we are very proud to be a sponsor of two teams at the club.”
