Bellway donates £300 to Mahdlo Youth Zone
Coinciding with the festive launch of two stunning showhomes at its Old Brook View development on Linney Lane in Shaw, housebuilder Bellway has donated £300 to Oldham’s Mahdlo Youth Zone.
Committed to supporting the communities in which it develops, Bellway’s donation will help Mahdlo make a difference to families across Oldham this festive season.
With the continued cost of living crisis, Christmas will be difficult for many families across Oldham as they struggle to feed their families, heat their homes and pay their bills – let alone buy presents or some of the seasonal luxuries many of us take for granted.
Mahdlo’s goal is to support as many of those families as possible, easing some of the worries and financial burden by providing food hampers, warm pyjamas and Christmas Eve goody boxes to spread a little joy and festive cheer.
Bellway’s donation will contribute towards the cost of Mahdlo’s free family Christmas dinner that takes place annually in the centre of Oldham. More than 200 young people and their families are invited to gather at Mahdlo to enjoy a delicious Christmas lunch, a visit from Santa and to play family-friendly games.
Elizabeth Kershaw from Mahdlo Youth Zone came to the Bellway showhome launch event to accept the donation, she said:
"Donations from local businesses are so important to Mahdlo and we are grateful for this one from Bellway. The festive season should be a time for fun, but for so many across Oldham it brings additional financial worries and pressures. Every donation to our Christmas campaign helps to support a young person or family in Oldham and our Christmas dinner is a wonderful event allowing families to join together, have fun and connect with others.”
Sales Director at Bellway, Grace Yarlett added: “When we learned about the Mahdlo Christmas campaign we knew that we wanted to contribute. Christmas should be a time of good cheer for everyone and we hope our donation goes some way to supporting Mahdlo as it works to help people across Oldham.”
