Bellway opens showhomes at final phase of major Lydney housing development
A development in Lydney which is bringing an investment of almost £3 million in local infrastructure and facilities has welcomed visitors to the launch of two new showhomes.
Bellway is building 200 new homes at Forest Walk, the final phase of a wider 320-home scheme being constructed on land to the west of the A48 Lydney Bypass.
It is the second development that the housebuilder has delivered in the town in recent years, following the completion of 90 homes at Archer’s Walk, on land off Highfield Road, in 2021.
Both developments form part of the wider Lydney Urban Extension which has brought hundreds of new homes to the eastern part of the town.
Bellway unveiled two four-bedroom showhomes at Forest Walk during a launch event on Saturday 3 May, where visitors enjoyed wood-fired pizza and refreshments provided by local mobile caterers Fabioni’s.
Rhian Reid, Sales Manager at Bellway, said: “As the final phase of the wider development, Forest Walk represents the last chance for people to buy a new-build home in this attractive new neighbourhood which has been created on the eastern edge of Lydney. The opening of the Goldsmith and Scrivener showhomes is therefore a significant moment for those interested in moving to this thriving new community.
“The food went down very well during our launch event but the main attraction on the day was the two showhomes. Both properties offer comfort, style and flexible open-plan living and demonstrate the high specification and quality of homes at the development.”
Forest Walk comprises 170 properties for private sale and 30 affordable homes available to local people through low-cost rent or shared ownership. There is a range of one-bedroom apartments and two, three and four-bedroom houses.
As part of the planning agreement for Forest Walk, Bellway is providing contributions of £2.9 million for local services, including contributions towards primary and early years education, roads and library services.
Rhian said: “Lydney has been identified as a key location for new development to meet the Forest of Dean’s future housing needs and our sites in the town have made an important contribution towards this. As well as three and four-bedroom houses for the private market, Forest Walk is providing a range of much-needed one to four-bedroom affordable homes to help local people unable to secure a mortgage to access good quality housing in the area.
“Alongside the new homes, our financial contributions of almost £3 million as part of the planning agreement for Forest Walk will fund local services and improvements to infrastructure which will benefit both new residents and the wider community. As construction work continues, we anticipate handing over the keys to the final completed properties at Forest Walk in summer 2028.
A selection of three and four-bedroom homes are currently available to reserve at Forest Walk, with prices starting at £299,995.
