Bellway’s support helps Essex hospice provide specialist care
Bellway has donated £500 to support the end-of-life care provided by St Luke’s Hospice in Basildon and Thurrock.
The housebuilder is building new homes at Maple Creek in Fobbing and made the contribution to the charity which provides specialist palliative care to patients and their families at its hospices nearby, as well as providing care within patients’ homes.
St Luke's Hospice supports more than 2,700 patients a year and provides 16 patient-facing services, with its in-patient service just one of these. Hospice teams can support and care for people at many different stages of their life, from the point of diagnosis to their final days.
Gemma Woodhurst, Corporate Fundraising Officer at St Luke’s Hospice, said: “We are very grateful to Bellway for its generous donation of £500 which will help us to carry on providing specialist palliative and end-of-life care to the communities we serve through our hospices in Basildon and Thurrock.
“As a registered charity we are reliant on the generosity of our community to ensure the continued provision of our services. The care we provide is free. Our team is made up of various health and social care professionals, many of whom work with us on a voluntary basis and this contribution is a tremendous boost.”

“Even though the hospice does receive a government grant, fundraising makes up a significant amount of the charity’s income so donations are vital in ensuring the hospice can continue to provide the care and support which makes such a difference to so many people’s lives at such a difficult time.”
