Bellway sponsors Cuffley FC tournament for third year in a row
Bellway has completed a hat-trick of sponsorship deals to help support a popular mini soccer tournament in the Hertfordshire village of Cuffley.
The developer is building new homes at its King George’s Vale site, off Northaw Road, next-door to the King George V Playing Fields, where the football competition was held.
More than 170 teams took part in the event – now in its 40th year – which was hosted by Cuffley FC on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 June.
This is the third year in a row that Bellway has contributed £500 to help fund the tournament, which features teams from under-7s to under-15s competing in a five and six-a-side format.
Bellway’s sponsorship money went towards tournament fees, such as paying for medical staff to ensure the safety of the players and supporters as well as the referees needed to officiate. Some of the donation also went towards buying match balls for the tournament, as well as the printing of promotional material for the event.
The club provided food and drink, including a barbecue and a licensed bar, from the clubhouse. Entertainment on offer included a bouncy castle and a raffle.
Gareth Williams, Kit Officer and Social Media Manager at Cuffley FC, said: “Support from our sponsors such as Bellway is crucial to us being able to hold these events and provide a great opportunity for grassroots football to thrive in our community.
“The tournament is run by a team of volunteers and the club is extremely grateful for any sponsorship support from local businesses such as Bellway.”
Greg Allsop, Sales Director for Bellway North London, said: “As well as providing new homes for the area, we believe it is our responsibility as a developer to play a positive role within the local community. Our sponsorship of Cuffley FC’s annual two-day soccer competition is a prime example of our commitment to supporting grassroots organisations which are at the heart of their communities.
“There is a huge social element to grassroots clubs like these and that is clearly demonstrated by the thousands of people who turned up to watch this fabulous festival of football which is such a highlight in the local social and sporting calendar.”
