Bellway starts second phase of construction at Weavers Fields development in Desborough

Bellway has begun construction on the second phase of its Weavers Fields development in Desborough.
The housebuilder is delivering 350 new homes at the site off Stoke Road, alongside public open space, a children’s play area, allotments, a local centre and land for a new school.
Work is drawing to a close on the first phase of 82 homes, located in the northern part of the site where the new play area has recently opened.
And building has now commenced on the second phase of 268 properties in the southern part of the site, which will also include the local centre and land for the new school.
Luke Southgate, Sales Director at Bellway Northern Home Counties, said: “Construction is progressing apace at Weavers Fields, and a new community is beginning to take shape. We’ve already welcomed buyers into 40 of the homes for private sale and handed over 32 of the affordable homes to housing association Platform Home Ownership.
“The opening of the new play area is a significant addition to the development and demonstrates our commitment to providing outdoor space and facilities for residents to enjoy. The play area offers a host of fun timber-based equipment, including the wonderfully-named bird’s nest swing, the chimpanzee climbing frame, log train balancing unit and the wizard’s hideaway.
“With construction now underway on the southern part of the development, we’re looking forward to seeing this new neighbourhood continue to grow. Allotments on the site should be ready to open alongside this phase of work, and a local centre is also to come.”
First-time buyers Aimee Harland and Ryan Guild are enjoying life in their new home at Weavers Fields. With the winter months approaching, the young couple are looking forward to staying snug and warm, without breaking the bank on heating bills.
Aimee said: ““For me, one of the best things about the house is how energy-efficient it is and how this will help keep our bills as low as possible.
“My favourite gadget is the Google Nest Thermostat. This connects to an app on my phone and I can control the heating from anywhere which is fantastic. It doesn’t matter if I forget to switch the heating off when I go out as I can do that on the phone, and I like being able to switch the heating on 10 minutes before I leave work so that the house is lovely and warm when I get in.”

“First-time buyers have been taking advantage of our deposit contribution incentive, while customers with an existing home to sell have been using our Part Exchange and Express Mover schemes to help their homebuying journey go more smoothly.”
Bellway began construction work at Weavers Fields in the summer of 2023 after planning permission was granted by North Northamptonshire Council the previous year. The development will comprise 280 properties for private sale and 70 affordable homes for low-cost rent or shared ownership.
An area of open space, including the play area and allotments, runs across the centre of the site, with phase one to the north and phase two to the south. The two phases will be connected by a spine road running through the development from Stoke Road in the north to Rowans Close in the south.
A selection of two, three and four-bedroom homes are currently available at Weavers Fields, with prices starting from £275,000.
