Bellway unveils new play area at Trimley St Martin development

Local children enjoyed their first chance to try out the equipment at a newly opened play area in Trimley St Martin at the weekend.

The facility was officially unveiled alongside a wildflower meadow at a family-friendly event to mark the launch of Bellway’s Kingsfleet Park development in the village on Saturday (28 June).

Both the play area and wildflower meadow form part of the housebuilder’s commitment to providing community facilities and green open space at the 139-home development off High Street.

Bellway is also contributing more than £1.2 million towards local services and infrastructure -and providing land for a new building for Trimley St Martin Primary School - as part of the planning agreement for the development.

The housebuilder is also supporting a fundraising appeal for a new seal rescue centre led by the Felixstowe-based British Divers Marine Life Rescue Charity (BDMLR), whose representatives were special guests at the weekend’s launch event.

Emma Hawkins, Sales Manager at Bellway Essex, said: “There has been a real buzz of anticipation in the area about the new community facilities we are providing at Kingsfleet Park, so it was great to welcome visitors to the development to see them for the first time.

“We had the perfect weather for our family-friendly launch event. The wildflower meadow and pond looked an absolute picture in the sunshine and the free ice creams we provided went down a treat. Visitors had a great time posing for fun photographs on a giant deckchair and there was face painting for the youngsters. Most importantly of all, the children had a fantastic time trying out the new play equipment which will be a real asset for families living at the development as well as those from the wider community.”

Kingsfleet Park will feature a variety of home styles and sizes including 86 two, three, and four-bedroom properties for private sale and seven self-build properties. The homes will feature electric vehicle charging points and solar PV panels.

The site will also include 46 affordable homes ranging from one to four-bedroom designs, comprising 23 properties for affordable rent, 11 shared ownership homes and 12 for sale through the Government’s First Homes initiative.

As part of the development, Bellway is contributing £786,000 towards local services through the planning agreement and a further £500,000 through the Community Infrastructure Levy, as well as providing land for the new primary school.

Saturday’s launch event at Kingsfleet Park also featured the opening of the sales centre and the unveiling of two new showhomes – a three-bedroom Mason and a four-bedroom Jeweller house design. The Mason includes a child’s bedroom which has been decorated with images of seals, turtles and other aquatic creatures in recognition of Bellway’s relationship with the British Divers Marine Life Rescue Charity (BDMLR).

Construction is progressing well and the first homes are due to be completed and ready for people to move in by the end of this year.
