Harbour Village shortlisted in First Time Buyer Awards

Bellway’s Harbour Village development in Ebbsfleet Garden City has been shortlisted for the title of Best New Development in the South at this year’s First Time Buyer Awards.

Six finalists have been named in the category and the winner will be announced at a ceremony taking place at the London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square on Friday 12 September.

Harbour Village is transforming the former Northfleet Cement Works into an attractive residential neighbourhood on the south bank of the River Thames, with 81 of the 630 homes planned now complete.

The development has been planned to include parks and green open spaces, sports and community facilities and a riverside walk.

Emma Denton, Sales Director for Bellway Thames Gateway, said: “Harbour Village represents a genuinely affordable option for first-time buyers within easy commuting distance of the capital – something which is demonstrated by the fact that 85 per cent of customers here have been purchasing their first home.

“We are therefore delighted that the development has been recognised in these prestigious national awards which focus on the needs of those taking their first step on the property ladder.

“This is an exceptional place to live, featuring energy-efficient new-build homes within a 20-minute train journey of central London. There’s a real mix of homes to suit a range of buyers, from one-bedroom apartments to four-bedroom houses, while the development has also been sensitively designed to reflect the site’s industrial heritage as a former quarry.

“Large areas of open space, designed with significant input from the local community, include riverside walks, a heritage trail, sports pitches and play areas, offering a wonderful quality of life for residents here and regenerating the area for everyone living locally.”

The first homes to be completed at Harbour Village are within phase one, comprising 121 homes north of Hive Lane, and phase two, which is delivering a further 130 homes off College Road. The Village Green opened within the first phase last year.

Bevans Park, a six-acre area of open space, is being created to the east of the new neighbourhood to include a heritage trail, wildlife corridor, sports pitch and fitness trail.

Work has also started on phase three, which will deliver 273 riverside apartments alongside a new park, a riverside promenade with informal play equipment, two community centres and an outdoor gym.

There’s currently a choice of two, three and four-bedroom houses available to reserve at Harbour Village, with prices starting from £354,500.
