Kingsmere Park in West Parley wins Residential Development of the Year award

Bellway’s Kingsmere Park development near Bournemouth has been named as Residential Development of the Year in the South Coast Property Awards.

The company is building 386 new homes at the development in West Parley, which will include 54 acres of public open space, four play zones and allotments.

The development was announced as the winner at an awards ceremony, hosted by The Business Magazine in partnership with Insider Media, at the Hilton Utilita Bowl in Southampton on Thursday 12 June.

The judges said the development ‘excelled at all levels’.

They said: “The developer has prioritised community engagement and is delivering new homes of exceptional quality along with extensive amenities for the new homes and neighbouring residents.

"Having had to overcome numerous challenges associated with the locality of the Bournemouth airport and being located within the Dorset Heathlands Special Protection Area, the development has gone on to win national quality awards and a national apprenticeship award.”

Kingsmere Park features energy-efficient homes, all with electric vehicle charging points. More than 170 of the properties will have solar panels.

Bellway has developed two areas of Suitable Alternative Natural Greenspace (SANG) as part of the project, one which will include a securely fenced dog training area. A pond has been reshaped and replanted to promote biodiversity yet, due to the proximity of the airport, deter colonisation by ducks and waterfowl.

Before building work began a consultation process was held so that local residents and organisations could give their views on the proposed scheme. This resulted in a reduction in the number of houses to be built and the repositioning of the proposed supermarket.

As part of its planning agreement for the development, Bellway committed to investing £3.2 million in local infrastructure and services including for schools, healthcare, roads and wildlife.

Multi-award-winning site manager Dave Murnane won a prestigious Seal of Excellence in the 2024 National House Building Council (NHBC) Pride in the Job awards for the quality of his work at Kingsmere Park, while assistant site manager Matthew Griffiths was named Construction Site Supervisor Apprentice of the Year by the National House Building Council (NHBC) in March 2025.

Bellway Wessex Sales Director Graeme Cole said: “The judges said that Kingsmere Park ‘excelled at all levels’ and we couldn’t have put it better ourselves.

“From long before the first brick was laid down, this development has indeed excelled because of our collaborative and communicative approach. Our exceptional attention to biodiversity and sustainability and the quality of the homes makes this a place where people can enjoy living and feel very good about the choice they have made.

“The open spaces, protection of wildlife and investment in local infrastructure mean that it’s not just Kingsmere Park residents who benefit from this award-winning development, but people who live in the wider area. We are very proud of this award, and proud of the legacy that we are creating with this development.”

There’s currently a choice of two, three and four-bedroom houses available to reserve at Kingsmere Park, which prices starting from £344,995. To find out more about the development, visit https://www.bellway.co.uk/new-homes/wessex/kingsmere-park or call the sales team on 01202 618686.
