More than 300 homes handed over to new residents at Goodsyard in Bishop’s Stortford
More than 300 of the 323 properties being built at Bellway’s Goodsyard development in Bishop’s Stortford have been handed over to their new residents.
The completed homes include both private and affordable properties at the scheme which is part of the regeneration of the former railway freight area, off Station Road.
Around half of the new homeowners at Goodsyard are first-time buyers.
Bellway North London Sales Director Greg Allsop said: “Reaching the point where more than 90 per cent of the properties at Goodsyard are now homes being lived in by their new owners or tenants is a landmark moment. We are very near to completing our work on this project and it is satisfying to see the impact already made by the regeneration of this area.
"First-time buyers have found Goodsyard affordable and also extremely attractive because of its contemporary design, public open space, build quality, and sustainability credentials. The location near the centre of this historic market town, and next to the railway station, is so convenient, for local shops and services as well as travel into London.
“The development has also had an immense positive impact on the local area, not just in terms of providing the high-quality homes people want, but also generating an economic boost, particularly through the creation of 200 jobs on site and within the wider supply chain.”
Among the first-time buyers at Goodsyard are Angeljca Bondi and Alfonso La Porta, who both work at Stansted Airport.
Angeljca said: “The open-plan living space really suits our lifestyle, and the apartment is really light and airy. It is very modern and finished to a high standard which is great. We did not want to move into a property that needed work doing to it as we both work hard and want to spend our spare time having fun not struggling with DIY.
“The location is incredible and perfect for us. It takes us two minutes to walk across to the station where we catch a train which gets us to Stansted in eight minutes. If we want to go to London for a day out it takes 30 minutes to get to Liverpool Street.”
Goodsyard has been built in two phases. The Exchange, which was completed in 2022, was made up of 149 properties including 18 affordable homes available for local people through rent or shared ownership.
The Southside Locks part of the scheme comprises 174 properties across five buildings – 128 homes for private sale and 46 affordable homes.
Goodsyard is part of a £200 million regeneration project to include a total of 500 homes, a hotel, care home and retail and office space.
Bellway currently has a choice of two and three-bedroom apartments remaining for sale at Goodsyard, with prices starting from £339,995. For more information, call the sales team on 01279 945851 or visit https://www.bellway.co.uk/new-homes/north-london/goodsyard.
