Sleetmoor United FC U12 girls score new sponsorship deal with Bellway

A girls’ football team based in Swanwick has netted a new £1,000 sponsorship deal with a local housebuilder.

Bellway, which is building new homes in nearby Ripley and Sutton-in-Ashfield, has provided the support for Sleetmoor United under-12 girls’ team, funding the purchase of new home and away kit and rain jackets for the squad of 13 girls.

The home kit features the Bellway logo on the front of the shirt, while the away kit shirt has the logo of Ashberry Homes, which is part of the Bellway Group.

The team – which plays in the Derbyshire Girls and Ladies League U12 Division One and is based at the Sleetmoor United FC home ground in Sleetmoor Lane, Swanwick – visited Bellway’s Ashlands and Ashberry Homes’ Brierley View developments in Sutton-in-Ashfield on Saturday 25 October.

Coach/manager Chris Frost said: “We were in need of a sponsor for this season as the girls are growing and really needed new kits as the old ones were looking a bit shabby and were too small for some of our players. When I approached Bellway about a possible deal, I was delighted to be received in such a positive and welcoming manner.

“The galvanising effect that pulling on a brand-new shirt has to a team cannot be underestimated. They were really excited about getting the new kits and could not wait to try both of the strips on. The whole squad will have an extra spring in their step when they run out onto the pitch with their fabulous new professional-looking kits.

“This feelgood factor is thanks to Bellway. The size of the generous donation also allowed us to get an extra home and away kit for when the goalkeeper fancies playing in the outfield, which she does from time to time.”

Sleetmoor United FC runs 41 teams from under-sevens to open age men’s and women’s sides.

Steve Smith, Sales Director at Bellway East Midlands, said: “Our ethos at Bellway is not only to build new homes and neighbourhoods but also to engage in a meaningful relationship with organisations within the local community.

“One way we can have a positive impact is to sponsor a local team such as the Sleetmoor United U12 girls’ team, which is based just three miles from our Coppice Heights development in Ripley, and just six miles from our developments in Sutton-in-Ashfield.

“It was a pleasure to be able to invite the girls and the coach Chris Frost along to meet the staff at Ashlands and Brierley View in Sutton-in-Ashfield. It was lovely to see the players in the new kits and we are very proud to see our names emblazoned across their shirts.”
