Village hall launch of first new homes at Bellway development in Henham

Henham Village Hall is to host the launch of a new housing development in the village this weekend.

The first properties at Bellway’s Hare’s Leap site will go on sale during the event, which takes place on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 June.

Construction work is progressing well at the site off Mill Road, where Bellway is building 45 new homes, including 27 properties for private sale and 18 affordable homes for low-cost rent or shared ownership.

The first homes are set to be completed by December 2025 but due to the high level of demand, Bellway is releasing an initial selection of properties onto the market three months before the sales office is due to open on the site. A computer-generated image showing what the development could look like has also been released by the housebuilder.

Greg Allsop, Sales Director at Bellway North London, said: “There has been a great deal of interest in these new homes which has prompted us to release the first properties onto the market ahead of the completion of the sales office and four-bedroom Hedingham showhome. We chose Henham Village Hall as the venue from which to launch these distinctive country homes because the building is right in the heart of the village and everyone knows its location.

“The newly released CGI gives people an idea of how the development will look, with distinctive homes designed to reflect the character of traditional farmstead buildings. This launch event is an opportunity for them to find out more about the design and layout of the properties, as well as the public open space which is being provided as part of the development.”

The energy-efficient homes at Hare’s Leap will feature solar PV panels and electric vehicle charging points. There will be more than six acres of parkland, including ponds, native woodland, hedgerow, wildflower grassland, and a new children’s play area.

Greg said: “The location offers buyers the best of both worlds – a picturesque village setting with easy access to nearby Elsenham, Saffron Walden, and Bishop’s Stortford as well as excellent transport links. Elsenham railway station is only two miles away and has direct services to both London and Cambridge, there are good connections to the M11, and it’s just four miles to Stansted Airport.

“The range of spacious four and five-bedroom detached properties for private sale will suit families looking to live in a quiet, secluded setting, while the 18 affordable homes will provide much-needed high-quality housing for local people unable to purchase on the open market. Our team are very much looking forward to meeting prospective buyers at this weekend’s launch event and telling them more about the new homes currently under construction.”

Bellway’s sales team with be at the village hall between 11am and 4pm on both Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 June to answer any questions prospective buyers may have about the development. A catering van will be present to provide free tea and coffee for visitors.
