Bellway funds ski lessons at Stoke Ski Centre for students at Co-op Academy Florence MacWilliams
Pupils at Co-op Academy Florence MacWilliams are set to hit the dry ski slopes thanks to Bellway.
The company, which is building new homes at The Crescent, off The Wood in Meir, donated ?500 to the secondary school located off nearby Weston Road.
The money will contribute to the funding of ski lessons at Stoke Ski Centre for Year 8 students.
Co-op Academy Florence MacWilliams, which is part of the Co-op Academies Trust, opened in September 2024 and now has 300 pupils across Year 7 and Year 8. The school is planned to grow over the next five years to reach its full capacity of 1,150 students.
Elizabeth Clewlow, Headteacher at Co-op Academy Florence MacWilliams, said: “We are grateful to Bellway for their donation. Thanks to this support, Florence’s ski offer ensures that every student has the opportunity to learn to ski regardless of their background or financial circumstance.
“Experiences like this build confidence, resilience and aspiration and we are proud to be able to offer such an inclusive programme that reflects our belief that opportunity should be for all.”

“These introductory lessons will give the whole year group the chance to benefit from expert skiing tuition, something that many youngsters might not ordinarily get the opportunity to try.
“We are thrilled to have established a relationship with the new school in the area and hope that this link is the start of an ongoing and meaningful association with the school, as part of our support for the wider community in the surrounding area.”
The Crescent will comprise 181 two, three and four-bedroom houses alongside new public open space. The development is part of a wider project to deliver 350 homes in the area with another housebuilder providing the other 169 properties.
