Homes at gateway site to Forster Park take shape in Stevenage

A new housing development at the gateway to Forster Park in Stevenage is now taking shape.

Ashberry Homes – part of the Bellway Group – is building 40 homes at Gatekeepers Rise, off North Road, where a new sales centre and a three and a four-bedroom showhome are now open.

The development will include three and four-bedroom houses and a two-bedroom coach house for private sale, as well as one and two-bedroom affordable apartments.

Greg Allsop, Sales Director for Bellway North London, said: “The launch of Gatekeepers Rise marks a significant milestone for Ashberry Homes at Forster Park, as it brings forward a further 40 homes for the local housing market.

“This part of the Forster Park site is particularly significant, as it marks the key gateway to the development from North Road and is home to our dedicated new sales centre. There is also a stunning four-bedroom Angelica showhome and a beautiful Perilla showhome for people to view.

“Gatekeepers Rise is also situated next to the planned local centre and play area at Forster Park, putting convenient amenities on the doorstep and providing a focal point for the new community which is now really taking shape.”

Bellway is building 400 homes under its Bellway and Ashberry Homes brands at Forster Park. The development is part of a wider project, with Miller Homes, to build up to 800 homes on the site.

Among the new homes being built by Bellway at Forster Park are 40 homes at Kingfisher Meadows, which lies within the St Nicholas/Rectory Lane Conservation Area. The three, four and five-bedroom houses here have been carefully designed to respect their conservation area setting.

Greg said: “We are aware of the historic literary significance of the area and are focused on creating a new neighbourhood sympathetic to the unique character of the surrounding landscape which inspired the work of EM Forster, who lived at nearby Rooks Nest House during his childhood.

“Due to the fact that Kingfisher Meadows is located within the conservation area, we have gone to great lengths to design this small collection of homes to sit unobtrusively within this location, largely comprising detached family housing as a low-density response to its surroundings.

“In addition, the design approach has included traditional features such as hipped roofs, tile hanging, brick arches, cottage-style casements, chimneys and gable-fronted porch canopies.”

There is a choice of two, three and four-bedroom homes available to reserve at Ashberry at Forster Park, with prices starting at £330,000.
