New showhome opens at development on former college site in Harold Hill

The partners in a scheme to provide 120 new homes on the former Havering College campus in Harold Hill came together to mark the next milestone in the major regeneration project.

Housebuilder Bellway and Mercury Land Holdings, a wholly owned company of Havering Council which manages affordable housing in the borough, are delivering the new homes at the Roe Wood Park development.

Councillor Ray Morgon, Leader of Havering Council, and Mercury Land Holdings Development Manager Chris Hobbs and Director Garry Green, attended the unveiling of a new showhome on the former Quarles Campus site, off Tring Gardens, on Saturday 12 July.

They joined Bellway representatives and local residents, including buyers who have reserved new homes at the development, for a barbecue which was laid on for visitors at the launch event.

Councillor Morgon said: “It was great to come down to Roe Wood Park and see this high-quality development.

“Even more importantly, it was so nice to see some of the residents who will be a part of the new community.

“I look forward to my next visit when we will be able to welcome residents to the Mercury Land Holdings properties and introduce them to their next neighbours.”

Roe Wood Park will feature 53 houses and apartments for private sale, including a mix of one, two and three-bedroom properties. There will also be 47 affordable homes available through low-cost rent or shared ownership and 20 new homes will be made available for private rent through Mercury Land Holdings.

Carolyn Webb, Sales Manager at Bellway Thames Gateway, said: “We continue to work closely with the local authority and it was a pleasure to welcome the leader of Havering Council and members of the senior management team at Mercury Land Holdings to the opening of the new showhome, which marks the latest milestone in the construction life of this site.

“It was also a great opportunity for soon-to-be residents at Roe Wood Park to meet each other and people already living in the local area. Construction work is progressing very well at the site and we expect to be handing over the keys to the first residents within the next few weeks.”

The sales office and three-bedroom Blemmere showhome at Roe Wood Park are open from 10am to 5pm from Thursday to Monday.

A selection of three-bedroom homes are currently available to reserve, with prices starting from £540,000.
